The detailed information about Initial qualification for Driver CPC

The initial qualification for the driver CPC involves four hours of theory testing and also 2 hours of practical testing. There is also some extra theory testing for 2.5 hours and 30 minutes of practical testing. All these tests are equivalent to NVQ level 2. The Driver CPC syllabus consists of the theory and the practical tests of which the theory test is classified into three sub categories by the names, module 1a, module 1b, and module 2.

The module 2 of driver CPC involves the driver CPC case studies. Along with the driving license, you must also avail the Driver Certificate for Professional Competence initial qualification if you want to drive commercially and professionally. Once you get the certification qualification, you will also get a driver qualification card that you must keep with you at all those times when you are driving on road.

This post briefs you in detail about the CPC module 2.

This module deals with the case studies. It is much similar to the theory tests and can be carried out online. It takes around 1 hour and 30 minutes to complete the test. Usually there are seven case studies and each of them has around 6 to 8 questions that you must answer during the test duration. Each of these case studies is also based on cases and situations from real life that each professional drivers face frequently while driving commercially.

The pass marks for this module is 40 and the maximum that you can get is 50. If however, you already have the certification for a particular vehicle category, and also wish to take the test for another category of vehicle, you must take the conversion test and also a part two case study. This consists of a total of 10 case studies and also 50 questions.

The case studies are such that they are ideal for testing your knowledge about driving and also the implementation and application of the knowledge that you have obtained while learning to drive. You must pass all the four modules of the Driver CPC qualifications in order to get the certification for professional driving.

The function of the DSA

The DSA functions as the supervisor of Driver CPC on behalf of the transport department. You will not be able to work professionally unless you have been exempted from the driver CPC training under special circumstances. You must also understand that this periodic training on Driver CPC has an impact on all those drivers who requires renewing their vocational license because of health and age related reasons.

Rules and regulation for the implementation of Driver CPC

This certification training is applicable to all the member states of European Union and so all the professional drivers must also qualify this test for commercial driving. The vehicles that are used for the training of this driver CPC for initial qualification must also be able to satisfy the minimum set standards that are in place for the vocational test for driving.

The N/SVQs also support the initial driver CPC training program

The NVQ can also be aligned with the initial CPC. Only the training courses that are approved by JAUPT are treated as the periodic training.

The syllabus for the qualification of Initial Driver CPC

There are three main subjects in this qualification training module:

  • Advanced training in rational driving and safety regulations
  • Application and implementation of the regulations
  • Environmental services, health, roads, safety and logistics.

You can also obtain the periodic driver CPC training via the online training mode when it is overseen by a trainer supervisor with different training tools. If you drive the LGV and the PCV vehicles professionally, you need not go through this driver CPC training twice, instead it is good enough to complete one course of 35 hours.

The Driver CPC training is a flexible training and you can complete the course in two days in the first year and three days in the fifth year. Once you complete all the modules successfully, you will also be assigned a driver qualification card which is essential for driving professionally.
