With a commitment to excellence and thorough training, our program ensures that you not only become a skilled driver but also unlock lucrative career opportunities.

Our program is tailored to meet the demands of the dynamic road transport sector, offering a comprehensive learning experience. Whether you’re starting from scratch or looking to upgrade your skills, our instructors, certified by the Driver and Vehicles Standard Agency (DVSA), bring extensive knowledge and practical expertise to guide you through each stage of the training.

Our instructors are dedicated to offering a personalized learning experience, ensuring you are well-prepared for the challenges of professional driving.

To kickstart your journey, we recommend taking a driving assessment. Join us at DHOOT Driving School in East Central London to experience top-notch LGV / HGV training that goes beyond just preparing you for the road — it sets the foundation for a successful and lucrative career in the transport and logistics industry.

Steps and requirements for obtaining a LGV / HGV licence:

  1. Minimum Age:
  • You need to be at least 18 years old to start LGV / HGV training.
  1. Driver’s Licence:
  • Possess a valid car driving licence in the UK before starting LGV / HGV training.
  1. Medical Examination:
  • Undergo a medical examination by a registered medical practitioner to ensure fitness for professional driving.
  1. Provisional LGV/HGV Licence:
  • Apply for a provisional LGV licence from the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) before practical road training.
  1. Theory Test:
  • Pass the HGV / LGV theory test, covering road safety, traffic rules, and truck-related knowledge through multiple-choice questions and hazard perception tests.
  1. Practical Training:
  • After theory training and receiving DVSA test results, undergo practical training with a DVSA-certified instructor. Gain hands-on experience in an actual HGV vehicle, increasing the likelihood of passing the practical test.
  1. Initial Driver CPC:
  • Complete the initial Driver CPC, a mandatory step for new Category C and C+E drivers to obtain a full HGV licence. This involves theory tests, practical tests, a practical demonstration (CPC Module 4), and a case studies test (CPC Module 2).
  1. CPC Periodic Training:
  • After the initial Driver CPC, undertake 35 hours of periodic training every five years at approved centres. This ongoing training ensures drivers stay updated on industry changes and maintain a high level of competence.

Once you’ve passed the tests and completed the training successfully, you’re eligible to upgrade from your provisional licence to a full HGV licence.
