(i) The LGV/HGV training: This training is for the large goods vehicle and the heavy goods vehicles only. As the name suggest, the license for this training depends on the weight specifications of the vehicles only. Some of the categories of training that you can avail are C1 + E – license, C1 + E – 7.5t + trailer, C up to 32 tons, C + E truck and trailer. When driving larger vehicles, the maximum authorised mass which means total vehicle weight plus the maximum load it can carry influences the driving licence entitlement needed by you.
The B+E car and trailer training: This training is meant for the towing vehicles only. It depends on the maximum authorized mass or the MAM limit. If your vehicle is within the MAM limit, you can avail the B license. For the vehicles that are more than the MAM limit, you have to obtain the B+E license.
(ii) The PCV training: This training is meant for the passenger carrying vehicles and the license is depended on the number of vehicles on board of the vehicle. There are some sub categories in this training class like the D, D1, D+E, and D1+E. D1 Minibus, D1+E Minibus & Trailer, D Automatic Bus, D Manual Coach. Of these, there are some categories that are meant for the manually operated vehicles only. Charter payment can be enjoyed directly from the travelers by the PCV qualified driver in the vehicle if the person driving is not part of the Minibus or Community association for Bus allows Scheme.
(iii) The driver CPC training: This is a different sort of training that is an essential requirement for all the LGV and the HGV drivers. You can avail help in the form of driver CPC modules and the CPC case studies. There are the CPC theory tests that you have to appear in and also qualify. For the initial qualification however, you can take the tests on the driver CPC modules 4 and 2. Initial qualification consists of 4 parts, all of which drivers must pass to qualify. Following initial qualification drivers must then complete 35 hours of periodic training every five years, if they want to keep their Driver CPC status.
